1) Humans are on this planet purely by chance. You may try to refute this by saying that life appearing purely by chance in extremely unlikely. I say, the universe was around a long time before life appeared on Earth. It was bound to happen eventually.

2) There is no meaning of life. It's what you make of it. Humans have a desire to live, so the generally accepted meaning of life is to continue the species.

3) Humans got lucky. We evolved with the right biological tools to conquer the other species. If the iguanas beat us, our religious iguana overlords would be asking the atheist iguanas why iguanas are the masters of the Earth and not the humans.

4) It's called diffusion. All matter has a tendency to want to be equally spread about everywhere. The more compact this area of matter is, the more it wants to diffuse. If you put a drop of food coloring into a glass of water, you'll see the drop quickly diffuse outwards, and then as the coloring becomes more thinly spread, the diffusion slows down, until the water is completely and evenly colored. That's how the universe began.

5) No.

6) Very few people believe that they are evil. Keep in mind that for the first ancient religions, the gods were pretty swell. I find it amusing that as the number of gods present in a religion decreases, the more flawed and irrational it becomes.

7) A disciplinary god is a good idea. It sets a role model for people. I am of the opinion that religion started as a good story from some guy who saw something pretty cool, and then people took it too seriously.

8) Stories like this are generally exaggerated. Also, just because a lot of people were very devoted to Jesus Christ, it doesn't prove that he's the son of one or more gods.

9) Morality is acquired. People got along fine for a long time without religion telling them what to do. When you repeatedly learn something to be wrong, it becomes so deeply set in your mind, you think it's a soul doing the work.

10) Nothing happens when we die. It's like sleeping, but without the vivid hallucinations and amnesia. Well, maybe yes on the amnesia.

All these questions can be answered some in numerous diferent ways.
1. chance
2. to reproduce and continue the human race
3. numerous ability part of natural selection; imposable thumbs, ability to stand upright, ability to be bored and large brains.
4. if you really compress something that thing is going to try and expand.
5. no
6. because they dont intend to be evil
7. no so that it encourages humans to behave well
8. they possibly were mentally ill or intoxicated. also stories can change over time.
9. memory and thinking.
10. nothing, blank, no thoughts

Alan Smithee, I don't even believe in abiogenesis as I have yet to see any evidence of it. If you're referring to mutations, then your analogy is flawed in that mutations, unlike your hypothetical painting, are driven by natural selection, which, while flawed, is not random.

1. God only knows (metaphor.)
2. Whatever you choose it to be.
3. Through evolution. If man went extinct, then some other creature would evolve to become masters of the earth, just like mammals did when the dinosaurs went extinct. Have you seen The Future Is Wild (The original movies, not the Teletoon TV Show)? It predicts that in 200 million years, Squids and octopi have taken to land and replaced humans.
4. I don't know. So what? I don't care-it stil happened!
5. Yes to the first question, no to the second.
6. Why would they? Also, some verses in the Bible make it questionable whether they did worship a power of evil...
7. Why would they make a book of rules if you were allowed to break them?
8. I could make the same argument about Jim Jones.
9. Each person develops a consciousness. As for morals, we evolved them, because for social animals it is beneficial to have rules against murder, rape, etc.
10. Nothing, because, like it or not, there is no soul, spirit, essence, or whatever you want to call it.

I would like to say i enjoyed the commentaries on this site.
Its obvious the author is bias. Whatever you say or comment
on with facts, he will discredit them. I myself was a christian,
and I considered myself an intelligent person. I considered myself today an agnostic. your ten question where well answered by others. its obvious you are not listening or reading truth and facts,
you are an example of Blind Faith. you ask question that you don't know 100%. you envy scientist and non-believers because they choose to think for themselves. Not blindly follow a man made god with contradicting laws and rules. and its amazing this god chose one particular race as his chosen people. throughout the old testament he telling his chosen people to kill and wipeout people he created. This looks so much like man has put this book together. please prove your blind faith for i can show others the irrational defense you are going demostrate

you are so stupid. none of this uses objective arguments, its all religiously biased and therefore can not be objectively proven. and seriously, the feeling you get when you see a newborn baby??? like yeah that must like mean theres a god cause babys are born. you are wrong, god doesnt give you that feeling, it is clearly thor and apollo and allah and osiris that give you that feeling. didnt anyone ever teach you this?

i dunno why, but a couple of you atheists seem to raise more questions with your answers. it may be because i\'m still young (17), but i do have one possibly clever senario against your life by chance theory: I have an easel, a sheet of paper on the easel, and a bucket of paint. no definite positioning, however i will not touch them because that would cause interference (sorta like Desim or Creationism, and for this senario i trying to avoid it). by some odd chance, the paint will collide with the paper and paint a beautiful picture of land, sea, and sky, rather than just a sloppy mess of weird colors. Logical or illogial, and how many laws of nature and physics are being applied or broken?
