When and How Satan Was Defeated
At the garden of Eden Satan destroyed the plan of human beings going into Heaven by inducing Eve to commit the sin of disobedience. But, the tremendous love God had for the woman born humans, made Him go out of his way not only to rescue us from total annihilation but also show an easier path to reach him.
It isn’t enough to state that Satan was defeated at Calvary when Lord Jesus died on the cross. We need to know the reason How? Only then could we convince the non-Christians about the Lord’s magnanimity of having been a ransom for millions.
When Adam and Eve were created, God’s purpose must have been that they should enjoy everything He would set up on the Earth and at some stage of their life they would ascend to Heaven to be with the Creator God for ever with a new body. Possibly, Satan was aware of this plan and he wanted to sabotage it right at the bud. So, he tempted Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, thus committing the sin of disobedience. Having become sinners overnight, Adam and Eve and their descendants couldn’t go to Heaven, which is a place only for sinless beings. Angels, the present inhabitants are holy and eternal.
So, Satan had triumphed and had succeeded in preventing the human beings from reaching God’s abode.
But, God’s special love being so very great and irrevocable for the human beings that He didn’t want the woman-born people to miss their place in the Book of Life. He wanted them to be with Him for ever at any cost and towards this, He decided to go out of His way to release them from the ‘death ‘ punishment (Read this as, ‘annihilation’). We can imagine that after the ‘fall’ in garden of Eden, the entire human race had been kept in a ‘death cell’ awaiting execution.
When Baby Jesus was born on the Earth, the human captives had been released from the death cell and the gates of Heaven had been thrown open too. It’s the same as saying that, they had received the Divine pardon and had become free persons. But this development didn’t mean that they could walk into Heaven at will because they continued to be sinners. Do remember that a sinner has no place in Heaven. He/she has to be 100 % holy in order to be there.
. Man cannot make himself holy no matter however much he/she may try. Even 99.999..% holiness would not be acceptable. Only God could give us that standard of purity. By dying on the Cross, our Lord had achieved two goals. He took on Himself our death punishment, pronounced in the garden of Eden. Next, His blood alone will make us 100% holy to make us stand in God’s presence. And we acquire that eligibility state by simply trusting in Lord Jesus. The 100 % stature will come about in us at the time of our death on the Earth. Marching into Heaven had been thus made easy; a privilege destroyed by Satan at garden of Eden and now restored at Calvary by the blood of Jesus.
A person who does not fully place his Faith and Trust in the Lord, would never receive total cleansing, hence it’s impossible for them to get salvation.
Satan could not prevent Lord Jesus from dying. His death paved The Way to Heaven. Satan found himself cornered and defeated as well. From then onward, he was unable to stop the believing Christians from becoming members of God’s household.
