When You are on The Verge of Sinking, GOD is Your Anchor

How many times did you fall? And how many times did you try to stand and fight?

You are a coward when you do not know how to fight the tests of life. I have known this from the time I experienced the most distressing day in my life. But looking back, I realized that it made me strong. It made me comprehend certain values that are part of living. Life really is not always a bed of roses.

Death was never significant until that ominous day in October. There never were deaths in the family except for a few distant relatives. Thus, I do not know the feeling of losing a loved one. And it was tragic – the untimely demise of the head and breadwinner of the family. Four children orphaned at their young age. How would I survive – feed, clothe and send these unfortunate offspring to school with the meager salary of an ordinary employee?

That day, God closed the door

I continued with my life – on my shoulders is the herculean responsibility to my children. But alas! I was able to give them good life – not really in overabundance but decent enough. I didn’t know how I did it. Was there any assistance?  Yes! I was blessed to have exceptional, loving and generous parents and siblings. I was thankful I did not give up my job when my late husband was then prodding me to concentrate on the growing children.

Now – all the four children are no longer kids. They were able to pursue the field of study that interested them. They have their jobs and families.

What do you think did I do?

I strengthened my faith in God. I believed in His omnipotence. I made God and my family the center of my life. I prayed and prayed and prayed. And I am happy!
