A one Night Stands is it a Heinous a crime?
A one night stand is a phrase in common usage to describe two consenting adults that have sexual intercourse for one time only, usually at night. Sounds an innocent scenario but we view this act with distain. When we hear about a work colleague or acquaintance who has had a one night stand, we cannot wait to tell others and sully their reputation why is this?
We want our partners to have never had a one night stand and if they have you want the number to be low. There are sound reasons for most people shying away from one night stands and that is STI’s or STD’s (Sexually transmitted Infections or Sexually transmitted disease) If you have just met a potential sexual partner you wont know their track record i.e. how many people they have slept with or the state of their sexual health.
Many people have walked away from a one night stand with more than a smile! Practising safe sex i.e. using condoms or femidoms cut down the risk of STD’s greatly what it does not do is give a potted history of the person you are having sex with. Could that person rob you or even murder you when you are compromised and relaxed?
Company or firms parties can lead to a one night stand. Then the repercussions become self evident the next day. The awkward meeting of the sexual partner in a corridor or in a lift, neither of you will know what to say or how to feel. Rest assured the company you are working for will find out and you will be talked about and ridiculed by your colleagues.
Unfortunately the world is not quite a sexual equality planet as we maintain. For a man to sleep around is more acceptable than for a woman why is this? Surely the act runs the same risk medically and morally for both sexes. Some people will maintain the man is just spreading his seed as nature intended! Have those days not died out?

How did the reciprical sexual interlude get the name one night stand anyway. No one is standing, i don’t think. One night stand as it were usually lead to secound night glimpses unless that stand was a financial transaction.

What a great subject to debate. I have never understood why there was one standard for men and another for women. Men were suppose to have many sexual partners and women were to be pure. I have been married to a wonderful man and outstanding sex partner for close to 29 years but before that my standards were more like a mans.

If you are already in a relationship then it’s cheating to go with someone else whether or not it’s just for one night. If you are single and free then I’d not judge someone for having the occasional one-nighter. But if they made a habit of it then it might indicate a problem.
