Addiciton to Pornography, The Dangers It Really Implies

Addiction to Pornography is easily picked up as you will read.

What is pornography addiction?

An addiction to Pornography is the constant viewing of the material both on the internet and what is made available via adult stores. It is the constant thought of pornography and sexual themes. This leads to massive damage to many other areas of one’s life.

What does pornography addiction do to the person addicted?

Pornography is so widely available for anyone to see in this modern era that no longer does the material have to be gained via a trip to the adult store, now it’s a trip to the computer. With the introduction of different taboos, this addiction can affect someone immensely and cause behavior that they would never usually display. With the person reaching for more hardcore acts to please their urges, things can become violent, thus giving the person a violent persona and damaging his/her chances of maintaining a future relationship. Pornography addiction also creates a false pretense for a person; no longer do they see women or men for what they really are. Because they have viewed so much of the material, the prostitutes in these films/magazines become the real men and women in their mind. Real men and women would not consent nor participate in some of the vile acts that the sufferer watches and this puts immense pressure on the already suffering relationship. This false pretense can also turn someone to crime. If the person is constantly viewing pornography of violent or impermissible nature, with their false state of mind, they could lash out and participate in this sort of act to try and make their pornography fantasy a reality. A perfect example was Ted Bundy (an American serial killer). He has been quoted saying that his addiction to pornography went through stages and played a key role in his despicable acts. As a child Bundy was introduced to soft-core pornography, he later viewed hard-core pornography and went on to view violent pornography. A lot of the indescribable acts shown by Ted Bundy could be related to violent pornography, such as strangulation or rape. Ted Bundy escaped a lot of correctional facilities only to continue with his sickening acts until he was finally killed via electric chair in 1989.

How to overcome a pornography addiction?

There are two ways to overcome this addiction. One is completely anonymous; the other may mean getting your name tarnished with your own family and specialist.

Anonymous: To break the grips of porn addiction anonymously, it requires a lot of mental will power. Using free online software, you can block explicit sites restricting the areas in which you can feed your addiction. Like I said, doing this anonymously can be very difficult and sometimes you will fail, although you save your name and overcome a huge hurdle if you succeed.

Non-Anonymous: This method obviously has a higher success rate because of the support you eventually gather from family/friends and specialist. First you must admit to yourself and your family that you have a problem with this. Your family could be quite shocked and this may cause immense stress on your relationship. Next, with their support, you need to see a psychologist to find the root of your addiction, whether it is a childhood problem or an act done to you somewhere along the lines. A psychologist will find it and give you solace thus breaking your addiction to pornography. As an addition the anonymous section can also be implemented here to increase your chance of succeeding.

I have many people visiting my blog looking for help. Actually it has increased over the past couple years at an alarming rate. They may be more comfortable to seek help or the actual problem itself has increased but it is very apparent.
