Are One Night Stands Worth It?
by With casual sex becoming more and more popular and normal one wonders whether there is any point to it, especially if you already have a loving caring partner. Yet more and more people are choosing to cheat on their partner and others who are single enjoy a string of one-off sexual conquests. Why?
It is usually young people who want one night stands and young people who have a chance of getting them, when it is a mature person they may fantasise about it and their fantasy is based on the idea that someone meets them and finds them totally irresistible, but there again if the person likes them that much they would not be happy for it to be just a few hours of fun and then end.
Surely sex within a loving committed relationship is far better? If it is with someone who loves you and is not just using you because they are frustrated, and who cares about your happiness. Someone who is open and honest with you. The sex itself is better then, the actual physical intimacy is superior with someone you are in love with. The romance, passion and lust that go with it make it far excel a quickie with a stranger. When you are in love with someone you totally fancy them and if they just look at you or touch you it makes you feel wonderful, you cannot get this same feeling from a stranger or someone you are not in love with.
I have been a private relationship expert, life coach and therapist for many years. Most of the problems people have come to me about have involved sexual or romantic relationships going wrong. Some people start off looking for fun and then end up with all sorts of problems and heartache. At least if it is a loving committed relationship the two people involved are both after the same thing and both working towards it and their goal is for both to be happy. When you are having a one night stand with a stranger they probably do not care about you at all, they may lie to you about all sorts of vital information, use you and then just walk off. This may cause you a lot of heartache but also a lot of problems, such as finding out you are pregnant or finding out they lied about their name and address and job and you cannot contact them again. At least when it is a serious honest relationship when there are problems the two people can try to sort them out without one of them lying or becoming invisible and not being interested. With so many relationships going wrong and so many marriages ending up with divorce or very unhappy a relationship that does not have two loving people stands very little chance of both getting what they want or it working out.
Lust can be exciting, passionate and fantastic and take you to the end of the World and back in just a few minutes. But ask yourself if the person who lusts after you is worth the bother, and if they are, can you trust them to be honest with you about the important things?
