Does Sex Shock You Anymore?
Do you feel shocked about seeing two woman kissing or a gay couple kissing and caressing each other on T.V, the Movies or in the Magazines?
If you have answered no to this, as I would imagine most people would, then why do T.V scriptwriters and Movie Producers and Magazine Editors still highlight and feature this subject!
Is is because as healthy heterosexuals, we cannot get enough of it, yes I said we, because it is not only the men today, but woman as well like to be titillated and excited by such scenes and so they keep churning them out, and we the general public keep gulping them up/down whatever is appropriate!
I personally do not have a problem with these subjects, but my only objection is that should be a little more selective as to how they are shown, displayed and promoted with relations to young people having access to such subjects!
By young people, I mean, of the ages 13 years and younger! who really do not need to be exposed to this type of thing, as they will have plenty of time to be exposed to it, and participate in it if they so wish!!
Sex I believe will always be with us, in some form or shape and it will always attract attention and sell products or shows or anything, it is just the nature of the beast (US) that we will get caught up with it.
Hope to get your opinions on whether there is to much, and what is your reaction to whether it shocks you or not, and whether it is appropriate to force it down our young peoples faces from all directions, T.V, Internet, Movies, Magazines, etc.

This logic could be applied to almost anything (violence, candy, books, information, meat, television etc) because no one needs these things to survive.
What is a legitimate reason that knowledge should be kept from people? And who gets to decide which people get to know what information?

You are quite right! who does decide to act as God in all of this, but the good general rule of thumb is Majority Rules. this alone does not mean that it is always right, but again, what is right or wrong?
Im my post I say “they should be a little more selective on how these subjects are exposed” I didn’t say barred or decide you does and who doesn’t. There really is no right or wrong answer to this type of arguement, but being put out there, so that people will at least think about it! and make up their own minds, and then live by their own actions, convictions as to which way they decide. Keeping in mind other people’s feelings, morals, ethics, and I do not like to say this, as it opens up another whole arguement, but as I am out there now, Religion!!!
Thanks for you comments!

What I meant to get at was the reasoning behind why “they should be a little more selective”. In the original post, it implied children don’t need to be exposed to sex, therefore they shouldn’t be. There should be a better line of reasoning, for example the reasons against asbestos exposure.
This naturally leads to the morality of censorship, which includes the politics and religion of it, if you want to go there.
But to answer the original post I don’t know how much sex is too much in the media. There’s no baseline to measure it. It doesn’t shock me that sex sells so well. And I don’t think the use of force, including censorship, is ever appropriate.

the use of sex doesn’t shock me, but the PDA of GLB couples is a little unnerving. I do not like to watch two gay humans kissing or carressing each other, it gives me a really awkward feeling inside. When I would get up and leave from their general vicinity (i.e. the park) they’ll get offended and whatnot, calling me a homophobe…
The punchline is that I’m gay.
