Getting Sober as a Teenager

Every person wishes to do the right things and be a righteous man at some point of his life. How well a person turns out to be depends on his growing years. And teenage is a very vital stage in determination of those values. No wonder teens get into bad company so easily. The problem with teenage is that bad company hardly means results into getting a detention in school. Bad company can also comprise of the company of serial drug addicts.

Drug addiction / abuse is a rampant problem that many face in teenage. Depression at home or school/college causes one to resort to these habits. Severe addiction shall require at least a month of rehab but this is something a teenage doesn’t comprehend before acquiring the habit. However some teens are just too scared to come clean with their parents and some refuse to admit they have a problem. The biggest step to resolving a problem is admitting the problem. No outsider can replace the support they need from their parents during this tough time.

Besides drugs- teens are increasingly getting addicted to both nicotine as well as alcohol. Even the threat of lung cancer cannot dissuade them. Unlike drugs making a teen quit smoking or alcohol is harder. Even though rehabs have been set up for these as well yet it’s equally important to remain sober even after rehab is over. Temptations must be avoided at all costs as one may fall back on old habits easily.

Sex addiction is a rising threat amongst teenagers too .Parents must have open discussion about sex or else there may be trouble later. Teens and mainly young men are addicted to pornography on the internet. Some teens begin early experimentations with sex and its difficult to slow down. Only the interference of a string willed adult can alter things. The thin line between addiction and necessity must be firmly etched for things to be normal. Sex addiction can lead to STD’s at a young age and the importance of safe sex must be drilled into the minds of teenagers from the pre teen age.

Thus handling a teen is tough but once the problem is identified it must be dealt with care in order to be eliminated.
