Female sex gland has the function of preparing an egg called the ovum, which is involved in reproduction process. The ovary prepares hormones which go into the blood stream and which are significant in the functioning in the woman’s body. These hormones or glandular materials also regulate the menstruation in the body.

The ovary is regulated by the hormones which come from the pituitary gland and which are necessary in order for ovulation to occur. The ovary develops a substance called the “corpus luteum” which produce a hormone called “progesterone”. The function of this hormone is the preparation of the uterus to receive the cell of the egg.

The egg cell or ovum is prepared by a follicle which is important in the formation of estrogen also known as female sex hormone. Each month the follicle raptures and the ovum travels through fallopian tubes into the uterus. A women gets pregnant when a male sex cell reaches the ovum and fertilizes it.

Many changes occur inside the body of woman when the sexual hormones are not functioning properly which are caused by the lack of these chemical regulators. If the ovary is not doing proper function or its removed by means of surgery, an insufficient secretion of the female sex hormones occurs which dramatically reduces the sex drive. Absence of sex hormones is associated with a disappearance of the regular menstrual flow.

The absence of ovarian secretion results in overgrowth of the bones. Insufficiency of ovarian secretion might lead to failure of the sexual organs to develop properly so that they appear infantile in type, a lack of development of breast and a lack of the usual hair growth under the arms and around the pubic area. There are cases in which female sex glands might be deficient in their reproduction of the necessary cells.

Other factors of low sex drive in woman is caused by marriage relationship and the general physical and mental condition of both male and female. In many cases, doctors have found that a detailed sex education is all that is necessary, because of some wrong sexual pattern that a couple may have adopted. The study of the sex cycle is also important, since there are certain periods when the woman is much more fertile.
