Important Lessons From The Tiger Woods Saga
“With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, with her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter or as a fool to the correctional of the stocks, till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life” Proverbs 7: 21-23.
Tiger Wood’s downfall contains a great and somber lesson for all men: Do not be controlled by your penis. It will ruin your life. Tiger Woods had everything; a beautiful wife and family, athletic achievement and fortune, and the respect of the world. Yet it was not enough because he could not control his penis.
We live in a world where sexuality is glorified as the light of the world. Even simple advertisement for things like food have sexual connotation. Human trafficking for sexual purposes is on the increase because there are men out there willing to pay to for their perverse lifestyle at the expense of another’s freedom. In the glamorous world we have the escort business thriving and call girls being elevated to the place of goddesses.
Solomon considered the wisest man to have lived is credited to have written the book of Proverbs, which is the wisdom book of the Bible. In the quote above he warns men of the danger of associating with a woman of the type that Tiger is said to have indulged in. Such a woman will entice you with her sweet perfume and kisses that will make you blind to the danger that you throw yourself in.
Sex is a powerful force. Either you control it or it will control you. Those who have read the story of Samson in the book of Judges know how he was also destroyed by a woman because he was controlled by his sensuality. Samson was strong and had been chosen from birth to liberate his people from their enemy the Philistines. More and more as he grew in strength he ignored the source of his strength, God.
He slept with “harlots” (Judges 16:1) as well as engaging with women from the enemy camp contrary to what he had been warned against. So getting involved with Delilah who eventually brought about his downfall was no surprise (Judges 16:4-21)). Just like Tiger Woods mistresses, Delilah was given money to betray Samson and she did with enticing words and fake love and Samson wanting to believe the lies fell to the trap.
Samson forfeited his power for sex in the same way that Tiger Woods did. By the time Delilah got to Samson, his relationship with God had deteriorated so much that he did not realize that the power of God had left him. He had become vulnerable to the Philistines by putting his trust on Delilah than on God and in the process lost all he had.

Great article – you made many good points. Very insightful. I actually find it a pleasant surprise that people in advertising still find the personal morality of their celebrity representatives important. Movie stars used to have to sign morality clauses, but it seems that now with celebrity gossip such a huge industry, the more outrageous their behavior, the more publicity they get.

Great isights on this issue. I think celebs should also value the name they tried so hard to put up by acting their best all the time.
