Important Lessons From The Tiger Woods Saga

“With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, with her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter or as a fool to the correctional of the stocks, till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life” Proverbs 7: 21-23.

This shows that great strength in one area of a person’s life does not make up for great weakness in other areas.  Incidentally even Solomon, could not heed his own advice and his sensual desire and lust for women led to his destruction, (1 Kings 11:11). Towards the end of his life, he writes in the book of Ecclesiastes of the futility of trying to find the meaning of life a part from God. He writes “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed all is vanity and gasping for the wind” Ecclesiastes 1:14.

                             But what is the Problem?

Today men and women are fighting a powerful tool of moral corruption created by the liberal media. Although sexual attraction is based on a natural instinct to propagate, the media has divorced sex from procreation and turned it into an entertainment, therapy and commodity. Anonymous sex or “no strings attached” sex is proclaimed as an end in itself, meaningful and liberating.

I for one must wonder what it is that causes a man to feel the need to pay a woman for sex and what it is about a woman that makes her feel her body is a commodity for sell to a man.  For the woman is it the glamour of sleeping or being possessed by a powerful man? Perhaps for the man it is the need for power and control because when he is paying he gets what he wants?

Could it be the need for the fake responsiveness of the woman? I use the word fake because how real can it be if she has to be paid to please him? It seems to me both parties are miming what they think should be happening, rather than admitting that the experience is empty and degrading.
How do we resolve the problem?

For one to get to the point of buying sex or even seeking sex as a means to self fulfillment suggests that one has a problem in their persona. Such a person is using sex to medicate the problem. It is possible that the person is an over achiever in the area of their expertise but it seems they are undeveloped in their emotional or relational life.

Tiger Woods it would seem spent too much time overachieving in the golf field but did not develop emotionally and spiritually. With great opportunities come also great responsibilities. A man like Woods must ask himself what void he is trying to feel with the illicit sex. He must also realize that no woman can give him what he really seeks. You get that by being right with God and self.

As for the women they have fallen prey to the media deception that their worth is based on their perceived sexuality. A woman must come to the realization that the only thing that truly differentiates women is beauty, grace, talent, intelligence, character and personality. She must stop competing on the basis of her sex appeal because in the long run it is mundane.
Instead of allowing sex to control us we should endeavor to control it. When we control our sex drive, we are free to serve God. A woman must realize that her physical look is like a flower which withers with time. She is worthy more than being an instrument of use by another.

Great article – you made many good points. Very insightful. I actually find it a pleasant surprise that people in advertising still find the personal morality of their celebrity representatives important. Movie stars used to have to sign morality clauses, but it seems that now with celebrity gossip such a huge industry, the more outrageous their behavior, the more publicity they get.

Great isights on this issue. I think celebs should also value the name they tried so hard to put up by acting their best all the time.
