It is a topic that a lot of people are not keen to talk about because of the taboo or because of the negativity of the subject but frankly there are concerns for both men and women regarding the subject. Many situations can be repaired so that the couple can enjoy each other and many issues are psychological meaning that counseling can help. But people may carry the problem for years and years because they think there are no solutions or because of the difficulty in facing personal issues. Here are ten causes but the list can go on:

1. The man is too shy to talk about his interest in another woman and as a result he feels to guilty to approach his partner and admit to infidelity. The same situation could be said of a woman who is interested in another man.
2. The man has a problem performing and would be embarrassed to be in front of his mate and not be able to get to completing the sexual act.
3. The woman has reached menopause and so the moisture around her external sex organs is lacking. This would make the sexual act painful. There are over the counter moisturizers a woman can apply to reduce this discomfort.
4. The woman is uncomfortable with her body espcially after a massectomy when a breast has been removed because of cancer. She and the husband should get councelling on this delicate subject.
5. There are women who are no longer interested in having sex with the husbands because of aging diseases and this is becoming more common given an increased aging population. I recently saw a video where the wife would no longer have sex woth her husband because he no longer appeared the same to her and in fact he was losing his memory.
6. Same sex couples have difficulty staying together expecially if one or both has had a lover that has remained a friend. This can cause jealousy and the two should discuss that point.
7. Alcohol can interfere in a relationship especially when one or the other goes to the bottle because the other is momentarily disinterested. Alcohol can cause mood swings and of the other person cannot handle that, it is a source of argument and a fall in further love making.
8. When the male starts to hit on his adopted daughter, that can and does cause disinterest and does lead to divorce or separation.
9. When the female becomes more attracted to younger males because they “perform better” that too can and does lead to friction within the couple.
10. When the child becomes rebellious and the parents each have their own way of coping with situation that can lead to friction and loss of interest in staying together and enjoying each others company. This is a good cause for separation too.
