Marc Jacobs Perfume Ad with Dakota Fanning Banned in U.k

An advertisement for perfume Marc Jacobs featured actress Dakota Fanning has been banned for ’sexualising a child, “according to the Advertising Standards Authority.

The ad shows a picture of the actress of 17 years in a short dress sitting on the floor with a bottle of perfume between her thighs, while the slogan says, “Oh, Lola”.

Designer and perfume creator Marc Jacobs explained that they chose a young actress as the face of a campaign to represent the “modern Lolita.”

ASA decided Fanning took a position in the ad was “sexually provocative”.

They said, “We realized the model of 17 years, but felt she looked under the age of 16 years.

“We believe that the length of her dress, her legs and the position of the bottle of perfume called attention to their sexuality.

“Because of this, with his appearance, it was felt that the announcement could be seen as sexualizing a child.

“We therefore conclude that the ad was irresponsible and could cause serious offenses.”

Fanning has recently appeared in the movie The Runaways as lead singer of 15 years of punk rock. Jacobs said his decision to use the campaign was inspired in large part for his role in the film.

“Dakota was in it and I knew it could be this modern Lolita, seductive and sweet,” he said.

The decision of the ASA is part of new concerns about the Prime Minister about the sexualization and the commercialization of children and the danger that entails.

Last month, David Cameron announced the creation of the site Parentport give parents and individuals to report companies who believe in the commercial sexual exploitation of children.
