More Women “Choosing” to Become Prostitutes

More and more women are choosing to become prostitutes as a career option and also because of the amount of money in the trade. So why is this?

When many of us think of prostitutes we tend to put them into two categories. We either dislike them because they are drug addicts and seem to sleep with anything that moves, or we have sympathy for them because so many women are forced to become prostitutes and into the sex trade in general.

However it seems that many women are now choosing to enter the sex trade because they see it as a career option and an opportunity to earn a higher amount of money compared to conventional jobs.

In an article at Skynews.com, a prostitute named Daisy, revealed how she treats prostitution as her job. Nobody else knows what her job is and they certainly do not see her as a prostitute. Indeed she did have to get into the job as a desperate measure because she lost her job before Christmas and saw an advert for escorts. She currently earns between 1 and 3 thousand pounds per week. Despite her needing to get into the trade as a desperate young woman looking for money she has now been working as a prostitute for 5 years. It goes to show that money really does talk.

What is shocking is that many girls leave school and rather than going to college or getting a normal job, they are entering into the sex trade and selling themselves for money. They simply see a handbag they want that would cost a week’s wages, but as a prostitute they can get it in practically one nights work. The appeal for young women to earn that sort of money seems to be increasing.

Even more shocking perhaps is that almost half of these girls are well brought up young women that have the brains to go to university and get a high paying job, but instead are becoming prostitutes just so they can afford to live a luxury lifestyle.

And dare i say with university fees increasing… the likelihood of more women becoming prostitutes also increases in my eyes. I have sympathy for the women that are forced into prostitution but surely the ones that enter it because of material things are just greedy and lazy?

Many girls and women choose prostitution as a career path because it’s a quick and easy way to earn money, and that money is either used for drugs or paying bills. For example, teenage girls with a child turn to prostitution to support their child. It may not be something that they want to do, but they do it for the future of their child.

It’s interesting to think about the motives for prostitution.

we are looking at the women.. but who is raising the boys that grow up to be the men that use these women? How can we justify it in them to think this is right?

Quick money is the main deal there. Due to recession and loss of jobs, many women are really desperate to find a job. But I wonder about the emotional and spiritual side of them.

Are there really that many girls choosing to go into this? Are there statistics to back this up?

To be honest, I think it should all be legalized and taxed ;)

I mean, seriously, though, women (and men!) have been using sex from the beginning of time to get what they want. The only difference between these prostitutes doing it, and those knowingly using sex against their partner to get what they want, is that when you go to a prostitute, you KNOW that’s the purpose.

Just my humble opinion, and no offense intended to anyone ;)

There’s a choice between what’s right… and what’s easy. Those at this crossroads should ask themselves, which is riskier?

Hmmmmmh, who should we blame? There is a lot of competition for those well paying jobs and furthermore, every employer including myself will ask for three years experience. It is tough for these girls. Your first picture almost made me stop reading just to…..you understand, don’t you?

I think many wish to get rich fast regardless of whether the path is right or wrong.

It is a dangerous profession, to much emphasis is made on all the money these girls make in a day but the risks they go through is life threatening.

Interesting article. Anyway, my opinion is a bit split into two parts. One part says me that they really are greedy and lazy (and even stupid as they can easily catch some ugly diseases this way). The other tells me that they are just selling what they have and thus are no different than anyone pursuing any other career (especially actors, singers etc.).

I see prostitution as another mean of exploiting women. Giving your body for sexual pleasure to anyone who can pay a small amount for it is never a pleasant trade off. We cannot blame these prostitutes as most of them enter this business in desperation but are there after trapped in a vicious circle of events. The economic depression in recent years has only flamed the situation.

For well brought up girls who are forced into this trade, the economy is to be blamed. While the other group of women, it is simply for money and pleasure.
