Practising Safe Sex
An article about safe sex for men and women.
Everyone knows that when you have sex, you have to be safe and sensible- but for some of us out there it can be difficult to know what to do, and how to keep things sexy as well as safe. It doesn’t matter how experienced you are, or how young or old you are- accidents happen and that is a fact! So follow these few tips to make sure that your experience is a good one, and doesn’t leave you with more than regrets the next morning!
- Use a condom- it may seem like the most obvious thing in the world, but some of us still don’t use protection when we are getting jiggy with our partners. It might be down to the fact that you are allergic to them, you have forgotten them or you may just not like the feel of them. The reality is, if you don’t use a condom then you are opening yourself up to all sorts of nasty things such as- pregnancy, HIV, chlamydia, ghonnorrhea and much more. So wise up- if you don’t have a condom, then say no! It is as simple as that!
- Use the pill- a condom might protect you against diseases, but it doesn’t always protect you against unwanted pregnancy. Try going on the pill to double up the protection. But remember, if you are sleeping with someone who is not a regular partner, you still need to use a condom!
- Be confident- a lot of people find it a turn off putting on contraceptives because it tends to break the mood and ruin the romance. But if you are confident with yourself, and know what you are doing then the chances are, nobody is going to notice you slip a condom on.
- Let her do it- it often helps if you let your partner put the condom on, this not only reassures her that she is about to have safe sex, but it also makes things less awkward between you and gives her good practise.
- Be safe, not sorry- if you are meeting someone for the first time, then make sure that your friends and family know where you are going. Always leave a contact number and an address just in case. Better to be safe, not sorry.
- The morning after pill- if things do go awry, and the condom splits or you forget to take your pill, then pop down to your local sexual health clinic and they will be able to prescribe you the morning after pill which works up to 72 hours after intercourse.
- Get tested- when you start having regular sex, it is a good idea to get yourself regularly tested for STI’s- this can also be done at your local health clinic.
Hopefully this information has been helpful, and remember to enjoy yourself and relax! Sex can be a mind blowing experience, especially when you take all the right precautions and keep safe!
