Preparations for a Night of Lovemaking

Of course, you want to ensure maximum spontaneous pleasure once you get to the bedroom.  Remember these very few preparation details:

• Go to the bathroom and empty your bladder before jumping into bed with your partner.  Withstanding the pressures of sex can be very uncomfortable with a full bladder. If you’ve found from previous experience that a slightly full bladder heightens your sexual sensitivity (many people do feel that way), you may skip this visit—as long as you haven’t gulped seven beers or several glasses or iced tea!
• If you are a woman who thinks you may need extra lubrication (sometimes “first-night” nervousness may dry you out), make sure you have a lubricant such as KY jelly in your drawer nearby.  If your guy is not up to an “oral” for you, this will come in handy.
• You may take a drink to relax you—but don’t overdo it.  Anticipatory tension adds to the excitement.  You don’t want to relax to the limp-rag-doll point!
• For women, make sure your contraceptive is in effect, unless this act is planned for conception.  If you are on the Pill, you should have taken it on schedule.  A diaphragm can be inserted within two hours before sex, so no need to pry out of an embrace to run to the bathroom.  If things progress more slowly than planned, the extra dab of KY jelly would help.  Keep a supply under your bed or in a nearby drawer you can reach without leaving the bed.
