Sex Scandals Sell Like Hotcakes

Sex scandal.

Human beings are sexual in nature. That’s what I believe and I always will. That’s why advertisers have been exploiting this weakness of the human nature. They spend for advertisements showing flesh which could persuade consumers to buy or patronize their products. Let me coin the term for it “persuasion by sensuality.”

The more flesh exposure, the more products sell. Yet human sensuality and sexuality cannot only be contained in these advertisements. Some love to get pictures of their own nudity, and others become voyeurs. Others visit adult sites which have become very accessible to a wide audience. Others engage in taking videos of themselves and are not contented to keep them for private use. They release them for private consumption. Thus, sex scandals become hot items and the most talked about issue just recently.

The involvement of Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili who are celebrities have added to the controversy of the issue. It reached to the attention of the congress prompting our lawmaker to conduct an inquiry in aid of legislation. And of course a lot of curious people got to have copies of those videos in their cellphones. Others purchased pirated copies at P110 per copy. Those sex videos become best sellers and most frequently downloaded videos on line.

No one can deny it, human as we are we have this heightened curiosity when it comes to sex. That’s why sex scandals not only of Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili become objects of interest and pleasure for us. Yet, this is an indication of how promiscuity has slowly crept into the essence of living our lives. Our lives are redirected to what is hot and sexy and what gives us satisfaction.

Is this the kind of life we want to live? is this the kind of orientation we want our children to grow up with?
