When I got divorced about two and a half years ago, I went right into another relationship, (”on the rebound”).  Following the break up of that relationship, I re-entered “the dating scene,” thinking it would be pretty much the same as it had been before I was married.   

Let me briefly state that I have worked diligently during my own life to overcome the extreme sexual repression in my family of origin.  I consider myself to be fairly liberal.

Wow!  Was I in for a surprise!  I was shocked by the way other women were competing amongst one another for men!  I’ve encountered quite a few situations in which the women actually physically fought over a man.  

Then there is the matter of clothing.  I like to wear sexy, feminine things but what I saw was shocking to me!  One man in a bar once told me that he was very “turned off by the clothing issue,” eyeing the way the women were dressed.  He stated that it looked as if they were dressed in “lingerie.”

Lastly, I was stunned at the attitude among both the men in addition to the women that sex regularly occurred the first time the couple met. 

There is a lot of experimenting going on out there.  I have met couples on several occasions that flirted openly with me and invited me to be a part of a “three-some” with them.  A lot of people are rather matter-of-fact about “swinging.”  A lot more people in general, but especially in the younger age groups, are flirting around with bisexuality. 

Now there’s a new term out there gaining more and more of a following.  It’s known as “polyamory.”  According to the research I have done on this “lifestyle choice,” it means that you love and have a sexual relationship with more than one “lover.”

Seems I have a lot to learn in this new era of dating.
