Would You Do It?

Oral sex: An argument for engaging in it. Dispelling several common myths regarding this sexual practice. Tips for pleasuring your partner (male or female) and ideas for how to use it to build your relationship.

Weather you call it oral sex, fellatio, eating out, going down, or by any other name, it is a practice that can not only prove extremely pleasurable but also serve to enhance your sex life. It can add a new item to your list of bedroom delights to explore and be an unexpected tool for building your relationship.

Oral Sex Myths

There are many myths and misconceptions about oral sex that serve to inhibit the exploration of this practice. Before we begin to discuss anything remotely like technique, let’s clear up the confusion.

Myth # 1: All men want is oral sex.

While men do ejoy oral sex, the desire for it varies from each person and the number of men who prefer it over vaginal intercourse is not as high as some would suggest. (If it were, I doubt there’d be so many babies concieved the old fashioned way.) Oral sex is a surprisingly easy way to pleasure a man, but not the only one. With a little honest communication and some exploration, it is possible to find many more ways to bring sexual pleasure to your partner then oral sex or intercourse.

Myth #2: Oral sex is dirty.

The old cultural attitude ‘Sex is Dirty!’ has eroded significantly in the United States, but oral sex is still suffering from that stigma. With any form of sexual behavior, proper hygiene and using appropriate measures are key to preventing illness. The use of protective barriers can prevent a great deal of potential problems, as well as making cleaning up after sexual play easier. Sex does involve bodily fluids, so it will be a little bit messy but nothing excessively so.

Myth #3: Women wouldn’t like oral sex.

It is frequently thought that women would not enjoy oral sex because they don’t have a penis. While the technique for women is different then the technique used in performing oral sex upon men, the end results are the same if skillfully done. The genitalia of a man or a woman have many sensitive nerves which allow for a person to feel a great deal of pleasure with appropriate stimulation.

Myth #4: Only gay people have oral sex.

Oral sex is used frequently by people who are bi-sexual, homosexual, and heterosexual. The frequency of use depends upon the individuals in question.
