Britain’s Biggest Baby Boom in Thirty Years
The population of Britain has soared to over 61 million following the biggest baby boom the country has seen in three decades.

It is a widely known fact that Britain has been the landing pad for many immigrants leaving countries in Eastern Europe, increasing in severity over the last ten years.
The office of national statistics (ONS) claims that there are an increasing number of immigrants who are packing up and heading back home, particularly since the worsening of the recession.

Whilst immigrants are returning home, the fertility rate has risen incredibly, with over 750,000 babies born last year alone. The statistics show that many of the babies were born to recent immigrants. This increase in population is the biggest the country has seen since the 1960’s.
Over half of the increase is babies born to women who are not British.

I like this short and sweet article with the stats but I am just wondering, is the baby boom a good thing or a bad thing. I guess we will have to wait and see. As part of an Asian (Indian) immigrant family, I don’t want to be biased or anything but if immigration is leading issues to be detrimental to Britain in terms of baby boom, then I guess it should be tackled.
Good article.

that is alot of babies in one year, but if the immigrants are going back home then I don \’t see this as being good or bad because the families will be taking the babies with them
