Improve Communication Skills and Style

If you know how to improve communication skills, than it will be easier for you to aware of your own communication style. As we know each person has his unique way of communicating with others. To improve this in first listen to your own speech. What words do you use? What is language of you body and what tone of voice are you using?

1. Now, take an example who is a good communicator. Compare your style with him. Now you are aware of your own style, study the style of those successful who are around you. How do these people communicate in their daily life? How do they say things? Look their style of communication and make your own.

2. Get the good styles of communication from others. Don’t take too much time to change your way of conversing. You had to learn to communicate in the first place after this you can learn certain behaviors or change them.

3. Now the next step is to try movements, posture and verbal style in you communication. For this again take help of the same successful person’s vedio or other material. Don’t do everything they do, but one or two things initially. For example maybe they talk at a slower pace than you should do-slow your speaking speed to match as suits to you. Why this b’coz they may be comfortable with the fast or slow but you have to find out your own pace.

4. Never criticize others for communicating differently. If we all communicated in the same way, what will be the difference in all who speak, even we will soon be bored with each other.

5. The way you communicate at home may be different as in a different environment. Try to change your style to suit the different settings, programmes, environments, etc.

6. Now the last but not the least discuss your style of communication in a group. Get their advices and learn how to improve communication skills by altering your style for the appropriate setting.
