Indus Valley Civilization

I did a project on the Indus Valley Civilization in university and here is a part of my research.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Introduction

An advanced and huge civilization came to be in the geographical area consisting of Pakistan and north-western India by 2500 B.C. This was a point in the history of humankind when majority of the world population was still hunting animals, gathering food and wandering from one region to another in groups. The Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) was the largest among the contemporary civilizations of the world. It was as sophisticated a civilization as the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations present in those times. The IVC extended from the Himalayan foothills to the shores of the Arabian Sea. Along the coastline, there were several inhabitants ranging from the now Pakistan-Iran border to the distant Narmada River in India. The main cities of the IVC are Mohenjo-daro and Harappa.

Origins

The main importance of this land was due to the Indus River that flowed through it. It attracted people from different areas as it provided means of sustenance and survival for them. Since prehistoric times, the Indus River has been the lifeline of the humans inhabiting this area.
