Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus

Have you ever wondered how different or alike males and females are?

Throughout the existence of the earth, there have been two types of people in almost every species: boys and girls. Females and males almost seem to be from two different planets which explain the quote “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus”. Both males and females have similarities and differences in our physical and mental aspects of life. However, are these differences enough to make such a statement about men and women being from two completely different places? Ever since birth, our differences can be visible. Is it simply a difference in physical features, or are we really that different.

The difference in males and females takes one of many different stages throughout the growth of each individual. Many researchers have often tracked down behavioral differences in males and females at a young age. Ages at which a male or female may have a drastic increase in emotional instability is during their crisis points. As we probably see in society and in the media, boys are more likely than girls to have discipline problems at school and e diagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADD). Boys also fill up special Ed. classes in comparison to girls.

Based on statistics taken from observers of adolescent differences in males and females, girls have reading disabilities almost as frequently as men, however, they are able to overcome their disability more readily. In clinical tests, the reading Disability rates for boys were 8.7 % in comparison to girls who had 6.9%. Something that did not take me by surprise was the fact that in the school trials, the percentage was a lot more different; 13.6% for the boys and 3.2% for the girls. Why might these differences occur?

For one, for basically the entire existence of male and female humans, males have always had an urge to conquer and release physical energy, whereas women relied more on knowledgeable tasks such as crafting, cooking, and other non-physical activities. These differences helped balance the work load between males and females and possibly led to our success at survival of the fittest. In my opinion, boys and girls do need to be taught in different ways. Society is depreciating the physical characteristics of male nature by calling it inhumane and too violent.

In today’s society that we live in, basically anyone that has the desire to explore and partake in excess physical activity is labeled as a person with ADD. Boys aren’t always hostile and violent; girls go through violent stages too. A recent study at Children’s hospital in Boston showed that male infants are more expressive while girls are more reflective. What this means is that the boy is more likely to cry when he is unhappy whereas girls usually revert to sucking their thumbs. This simple observation suggests to the people that girls are better at controlling their emotions.
