Monkeys are Able to Recognize Faces?
Monkeys are able to recognize faces?
Babies are able to recognize their’s mother’s faces when they are only a few months old.But can animals recognize faces?Research has shown that monkeys have this ability to some-extent as well.Scientists have discovered that Capuchin monkeys can recognize familiar individuals in photographs. For the study, the capuchins viewed photographs of four different faces. One of the four picture was of a capuchin from their own group, and the study showed that capuchin’s were able to recognize photographs of monkeys living in their social group. This proved that they could distuingish familiar individuals from outsiders.
This research is important because it highlighted the ability of monkeys not only to compare and recognize facial images, but to connect faces with individuals they know.According to researchers ,human beings and monkeys use the same mechanisms to recognize faces only ours are far more and advanced.
