Robot Inspects The Tunnel at Teotihuacan

Mexican archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History presented the first images from a small robot in a tunnel under the pyramid Feathered Serpent in Teotihuacan. The robot was first used for archaeological research in Mexico. Previously, such devices were used only for studying the pyramids of Egypt.

The robot, received the name Tlaloque 1 in honor of the mythical creatures, managed to peek into the tunnel, which is not untouched by human hands over 1,8 thousand years. The images obtained showed that the wall symbolizes the pit structure, which was built more than 2 thousand years ago, are strong enough to ensure that in future they could investigate the archaeologists.

Tlaloque 1 – a small robot, 30 cm wide, 50 cm in length, 20 cm in height. The device is equipped with two cameras, the ability to turn 360 degrees. One of them is in front of the other – behind. The robot also has its own illumination and can transmit images to an external monitor.

On the tunnel of INAH experts told two months ago. According to them, under the pyramid Feathered Serpent with GPR was found tunnel height of 2,5 m, 4 m wide and 100 m.
