Ship Four Centuries Ago, Discovered at The Bottom of Thames
Underwater exploration company Odyssey Marine has made a notable discovery, a ship sunk at the bottom of the river Thames, UK.
The ship, which apparently is from the XVIIth century, would be the first ship ever found belonging to British English Royal African Company.
The ship was discovered at a depth of 110 feet, into the River Thames, Sail-World informs.
This is the conclusion reached by the explorers on the basis of Odyssey Marine discovered. The wreck was found in the Atlas Project, believed to be the biggest search operation ever launched, covering an area of 8,000 square miles underwater.
A pipe, three bottles marked bracelets elephant tusks are Manila and artifacts found on the wreck of seventeenth-century century. Study them carefully by Odyssey archaeological team led to the hypothesis that the wreck would have been a merchant ship of the English Royal African Company ships.
If the evidence is accurate, would be the first ship wreck this company discovered the world. Although the team could not identify with certainty the ship, exploration conducted to date indicates that it has historical significance.
The discovery of Manila and bracelets elephant tusks suggest that the ship made trips on trade routes between Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.
Odyssey team believes that the ship is stranded between the British and from 1660 to 1700.
