The smell of burgers and greasy fries. The taste of a calorie rich milkshake. What has caused America and perhaps the rest of the world to follow this fast food trend? There are several reasons of why people choose to consume this modern and popular style of food.
One of the major reasons for the cause of fast food and the appearance of fast food chains is the one big factor. That is convenience and speed. “Fast food” is literally fast food. The speed of getting your meal prepared and served is very fast. Many people in this modern day are quite busy which causes them to choose a one minute prepared meal instead of twenty minute meal. The convenience includes the plethora of fast food restaurants out on the streets. Generally you see chain restaurants such as the popular “McDonalds” or “Burger King” in most parts of a city. This allows easy access for a hungry person who is in a rush to get food quickly. So the great convenience of eating in or taking out at a fast food joint is one great contribution to the fast food phenomena’s success.
The second reason for the popularity of fast food is quite possibly the taste of a burger or other fast food. For some people (including myself), eating such food is quite enjoyable because it is quite delicious. However it is quite greasy and fattening which is one thing that takes away from fast food’s success. The positives outweigh the negatives however. But the feeling of biting into a juicy burger or eating a crispy golden fry is quite pleasurable. In other words the feelings and enjoyment of eating fast food is a great contribution to fast food’s growth and success.
My final reason for the success, popularity, and growth of the fast food industry is its major impact on popular culture. Our society today has incorporated fast food as part of our lives. We naturally think of fast food a lot of times. Mostly everyone in the United States has eaten fast food at least once before. So fast food is something that we are so accustomed to, that it has developed and impacted pop culture incredibly.
In conclusion, fast food is a phenomena that has exploded into popularity and has even become part of some of our daily lives. The fast food craze has become quite enormous and unfortunately it is killing the tradition of eating at home. So the fast food industry is a very popular and successful business because of several attributes that appeal to the consumer.
