Traces of Unknown Civilizations Were Discovered in Amazon

A series of engravings were discovered near the ancient underwater city of Manaus, the Amazon due to lower water levels, which reached the lowest rate in the last 100 years.

The images are engraved on stones, dates back about 7000 years and were discovered by a fisherman on the Amazon tributary, Rio Negro.

Even if the water level is rising at the moment, and engravings that are covered by more and more, local researchers have made hundreds of photographs.

Archaeologists who have studied the images say the photos, which shows the faces of humans and snakes, are another proof of the existence of ancient civilizations that lived in the Amazon jungle, thus rejecting the hypothesis that the jungle was too hard to accommodate more than nomadic hunters.

Eduardo Neves, president of the Brazilian Association of archaeologists, said that the engravings were made by at least 3,000 years ago than 7000 years, when sea level was very low in the region.

“There’s always been this idea that the Amazon jungle would have been a wild place, of which almost completely missing people. The truth is that this assumption proved false. In many parts of the Amazon have found traces of ancient settlements.

In recent years, researchers found traces of civilizations in the Amazon jungle for thousands of years, cities, cities similar to the European Middle Ages and the roads linking settlements to each other.

The big problems seem to be archaeologists cattlemen and farmers in the area who prefer to destroy or conceal traces of ancient cultures, simply because it might affect business. Thus, scientists are waging a real race against time to inventory and preserve the artifacts.

Another big problem would be the imminent opening of the bridge over the Rio Negro, which will link between Manaus and Iranduba. This area is home to a large number of archaeological sites, which have lately found many urns and ancient pottery.

“The bridge will dramatically alter these places, because urbanization puts a tremendous pressure on this ancient culture. Changing dynamics typical of the region will certainly begin reducing degradation and archaeological sites. “
