Accounts of THE Recent Earthquake AND Tsunami in Japan
A brief account about the recent double tragedy that hit highly industrialized Japan causing loss of many lives and properties.
The recent 8.9 magnitude earthquake that triggered a fierce tsunami in Japan caused massive destruction and great loss to lives and properties. This disaster is one that has never been experienced since the Second World War in the richest country in Asia, Japan.
On March 11th 2011, this disaster hit the sea-surrounded Japan in spite of her great efforts in taking measures that could forestall or prevent such occurrence.
The 8.9 magnitude quake with a strong tsunami swept through major parts of Japan causing fire explosion and leading to the shedding of electricity.
Major impacts of the double tragedy were evident in the cities of Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima and many others.
Properties lost to the disaster could not be instantly estimated. The death toll as far as reported is about 2,000, a figure that reflects the bodies found.
Scenes from some of the most affected areas were strange and sorrowful. Concrete buildings were seen floating on water, some broken into pieces, cars being swept by water etc. A view from above seemed the whole country had been filled with water and displaced properties being carried away as “ants marching”. A ship on sea during the disaster was flipped unto the land about a kilometer beyond the shore of the sea.
There are various explosions from nuclear plants because of the tsunami.
Devastation resulting from this disaster have caused great loss to the highly industrialized Japan.
Though the disasters have occurred already, frequent shakes are been experienced in Tokyo with more and more explosions in the country.
The aftermath of this disaster has left questions of funds to rebuild the nation.
Though Japan’s central bank has injected about 15 trillion Yen, equivalent to $184 billion into it’s money market, it is estimated that Japan would need extra tens of billion dollars to help her bounce back.
However, donations can be made to special sites to help replace losses and rebuild Japan.
Contribute the little you have, help save Japan.
