Bad Luck Beaten by a Hint of Mere Luck!
Before the car accident, I never believed in bad luck but now I have an entire different perception of it. I think death has an exotic way of stalking me around everywhere. Where ever I go, it’s not safe. Even lying down under a clear sky trying to let go of your past sorrows isn’t safe as a meteor did crash down beside me. But I survived. Once I slipped off a wet towel and almost drowned in the adult swimming pool but later some folks spot bubbles rising on the surface of the water and EUREKA ! Yes, I was saved. I guess I owe the lifeguard. Anyways, that’s nothing. The next day, I was close to getting hit by a speeding bus. And the day after, I was so caught up in all that crazy crap going on with me that I almost lost my arm getting stuck in the door hinge.
And then the accident happens..but I survive again. There can be two possible explanations for this: either bad luck has been beaten but a hint of mere luck every stinking time or death just likes to play with its prey before the actual hunt. That makes me paranoid. It’s like fate has dealt me a malevolent and sanguinary blow. Why me? I’m not afraid of where my destiny lies, and that’s a dark place called death. I know it. I mean I’ve been getting hints all along. It’s all like a challenging game where I’m the suckish character getting its butt kicked and now my battery is dying. Woo. NOT. Listen, every time I’m close to being embraced by death, death itself helps me get away. It’s agony.
But the accident was actually the worst. It was a Sunday morning and my mom had promised to take me far away from the city to the open road where us both could relax and release our minds to a world which had nothing but the grass and the cows. Funny, the thought. So, it was a five hours ride and we were half way there but my mom and I got a little thirsty and the water bottles were all empty so mom stopped the car to get water and maybe a few snacks not realizing where she had parked the car. It was near a train track but she forgot to put the car in gear and it automatically started to move towards the train track and ended up on it. I don’t know, probably something related to friction or just my bad luck taking place again. It was all quiet until I heard a whistle. My heart started to throb. It was the whistle of a train. I tried to start the car but what do you know..the keys weren’t there. There I was, left alone, screaming at the top of my voice in the hope of help. I thought I was going to die for sure this time when the train getting closer and closer caught my eye. I just sat there, hopelessly and helplessly thinking my time had finally come. I closed my eyes in disappointment with no sign of my mom. The train was proceeding when I heard a sound. A sound of relief and saviour. Any sound at that moment seemed heavenly but when I gently opened my eyes…it was the locks. I wasted no time in trying to get out of the car but the train got a bit too close. It hit half of me and flew me in the air while the car when hit by the train burst into flames. I ended up on the ground, unconscious. I was unaware of what surrounded me. Perhaps, a mob of people from the near store and my own mom surrounded me. I can only remember seeing glimpses of random people then eventually all of those fading into bright light.
I gained consciousness and realized that I was in a room of some hospital by that huge oxygen mask on my face. Well, to be honest, first I actually thought that I was abducted by aliens or something. But, no. I wasn’t. I was recovering from that accident..or should it really be called an accident? I’m not even sure.
I guess things happens for a reason but never give a reason for those things to happen. I must have done something that upset the Lord. Play safe.
