Bhutan is an Independent mountainous state in the eastern Himalayas

Bhutan is an Independent mountainous state in the eastern Himalayas. It is bordered by Tibet to the North and India to the south. It covers an area of about 47,000 sq. km. The climate is cold and snowy in winter but warm and gentle in summer.
The environment of the state is largely untouched and hence has a great diversity of rare flora and fauna indigenous to that region. The state is partly covered by hot humid forests in the slope and the valleys of the Himalayas which is one of the prime habitats of endangered species of animals such as leopards, tigers as well as home to several rare flora and fauna.

( Folk Culture In Bhutan)
Bhutan has a population of about 2,000,000, of which most of are Buddhist. Although there is less arable land, most of the people are farmers. And their most important crop includes corn and rice.
Bhutan exports cement and talcum powder. It is yet to develop its tourist potential. In 1988 it refused to admit individual tourists after reports of desecration and robbing of its monasteries..
