Capoeira: The Battle That Dance
Everyone knows that Capoeira originated in Brazil. It has its foundation in the methods of combat and dance movements of Africans enslaved in South America. It is a martial art "for fake" … but a real sport, full of energy. And it is beneficial to physical health but also moral. Are you tempted?
The practitioners of capoeira mimic a fight without ever touching the rhythm suggested by the music that accompanies them. Resting on their feet, sometimes on their hands, they are movements that require coordination at the same time, flexibility, strength and balance.
In a “roda”, a circle formed by the other capoeira, the movements of the two principal dancers must be fluid. Their implementation allows to develop the precision of postures. Practitioners and they gain many physical qualities over time, “thus reinforcing the benefits inherent in any exercise,” said Dr. Bruno Sesboüé, sports physician at the University Hospital of Caen.
Good for the body, good for the head
To control the maintenance of the body during these movements can be complex, particularly the capoeiristas work balance. In order to provide maximum energy throughout the “fight”, they also develop a real potential for physical strength. “The cardiovascular system is widely applied, which improves the qualities of endurance,” said Bruno Sesboüé. In addition, the gestures of the dance require flexibility and coordination. The regular practice of capoeira develops the muscles of the body, smooth and balanced way. Indeed, no movement is in principle brutal. What is more, protects the joints.
Another advantage of learning in society for children. This dance of combat makes it possible to channel the energy of the young. Moreover, this martial art is often used in many social projects in Brazil, where it is for the most disadvantaged children. As if the practice of capoeira was a barrier against crime and drugs.
Cons-indications
Like almost all sports, it has some cons-indications. “Heart problems in particular, should be evaluated by a physician before beginning the practice of capoeira,” says Dr. Sesboüé. Other cons-indication: “the presence of musculoskeletal disorders, including spine and lower limbs.” This sport is not recommended in case of balance disorder. In all cases, consult your doctor before you start.
