Cat Always Land on Feet
Why do Cat Always Land on Feet.
Some people say that cats have nine lives because they are skilled at correcting themselves in mid.air as they fall so that they land safely on the ground, feet first. How does this happen? It’s because while falling,a cat twists its body so that its feet are pointing downwards and its legs are spread wide.Once in this position ,the cat’s body acts a bit like a parachute. The cat stops accelerating, and starts to relax, which helps it to absorb the impact on landing.
Generally a cat takes about one metre to turn itself the right way up when falling.Falls from heights greater than one meter often result in a cat landing feet first. Therefore,a cat falling from only one floor is up is more likely to run out of time to turn, land awkwardly and itself than a cat falling from six floors up !Records show that cats have fallen from over 40 storeys up and lived.
Though all cats don’t survive steep falls, their instincts and their agility give them a good chance or surviving.
