Chinese and Japanese Relations

Chinese and Japanese Relations.

There are various ways for both countries to be able to come together and negotiate. The most popular way is to host a meeting that is held in a foreign country. The country is preferred to be in the Asian region but cannot be territories from either China or Japan. This country can belong to Thailand, Singapore, or any other country in South-West China. Countries like these are ideal for being mediators because they can be trusted by both sides but are not biased to either one. Neutral countries and regions are also acceptable for being mediators. “The prime ministers of Japan and China have held their first face-to-face meeting since a collision involving a Chinese boat and Japanese patrol vessels last month near a disputed island sparked a diplomatic feud. Naoto Kan and Wen Jiabao met on Monday for 25 minutes after the working dinner of an Asia-Europe summit in Brussels and agreed to start high level talks to repair the strained ties” (China). In the case of the fishing boat incident, a neutral-positioned European country acted as the mediator for both countries. These mediators are more successful at drawing negotiations between China and Japan.

China and Japan need to solve problems together as a unit. Both countries are giants of economic activity and military spending in all of Asia. The two sides rely heavily on each other to trade, and other countries in return rely on them for their resources and products. The relations between China and Japan must be improved in order to allow a smooth trade around the world. The Chinese and Japanese need to communicate more often and solve problems together more frequently. When both sides cooperate, stability to that region and their economies are vastly improved. “Statistics show that their bilateral trade volume hit a record high of nearly 300 billion U.S. dollars last year” (Wu).  In order for both countries to be able to provide for their own people and to prevent war, they must collaborate on specific issues peacefully.

So, what would happen if the Chinese and Japanese cooperated on every issue starting today? The effects are very dramatic and would most likely be a long run term. When both countries improve their relations, both countries benefit vastly with the help of each other. Both countries will be able to have a permanent trading partner that is willing to provide the best products and resources for their economic markets and their people. Individuals from both countries are able to make good profits and be able to provide a better quality market for the countries around the world. As trade progresses and their qualities and products become more popular, many countries from around the globe will recognize the two powerful countries that have combined their efforts and prospered wonderfully. Not to mention, the whole eastern region of Asia would be friendly and peaceful which would improve tourism from various countries. A region that is often ravaged by conflict is not preferred, especially for tourism and vacation. No blood would be spilled, no lives would be lost, no grudges will be held, and everyone is able to enjoy each other’s welcoming company.
