Consciously Creating The Life You Want
Why do hopes for the future fail? At the early stages of life, we all have dreams of what we would become as we grow older. We saw visions of who we would be, the kind of career we would have and the ideal mate that would make life complete and exciting. Yet somewhere on the road to those dreams we became distracted. The realities of life settled in and we began to make excuses why we couldn’t have what we want.
Life is meant to be lived. Animals act on instinct with no reason. The wonderful thing called “mind” that we are blessed with, is capable of so much, yet most of us fail to use its full potential.
If you are to live up to your potential and bring far more of your dreams to reality, you need to employ the tricks that improve mental power into your daily life. In the beginning it will require some discipline to overcome the negatives you’ve come to believe in as truth.
The road to personal success starts by putting down your resolutions on paper. It’s not enough to just wish and hope for the best. You can’t believe what you don’t see and the first step is to write down everything you want from life. Write them all down no matter how silly they may seem. You can filter the best from the rest later.
Once you’ve written down your list, you can filter out the ones that promise the best possibilities. Of those, take the ten best resolutions to start with.
Once you have your ten best list, make your goals as detailed as possible. They need to be broken down into daily, weekly and monthly goals. You should be able to accomplish something every day that moves you closer to your goal. While you’re breaking down your goal list, invoke as many of your senses or emotions as possible. Imagine the feeling of triumph by cutting out one cigarette from a pack-a-day habit. One less cigarette can translate to the savings you would otherwise spend on one pack every month. Look at the advantages that accrue from making your first step to achievement.
Visualize success. Most people fail as they see too many negatives. They base their beliefs on the failures of the past. But the past can’t be outdone. Your only power lies in doing something now to change assured failures tomorrow. Failure, as the old saying goes, comes from not getting back up when you’re down. Visualize success twice a day for 20 to 25 minutes.
Set a reasonable time frame to reach your goals. You can devote a certain amount of time to each of your ten goals and do them in small bites, or concentrate on achieving one or two depending on how easy they may be or how long they take to get accomplished.
Build a support network. Involve your relatives and friends into your plans. Filter out the naysayers that would just drag you down.
Give yourself a reward every time you accomplish a goal. Your reward doesn’t need to be expensive, but it should be something you’ve been looking forward to.
Once you’ve successfully reached one of your ten goals, cross it off your list and replace it with yet another goal. Always keep a list of 10 goals to shoot for. A perpetual list keeps you active. You can’t feel depressed if you’ve got something to shoot for.
Take failure in stride. You will fail because you are human. The only way you learn is through failure. As a child you often fell on your butt before you could stand and walk. You failed tests and perhaps had to redo a grade before you could fully grasp knowledge. Expect to fail and welcome the lessons it teaches you.
These techniques can vastly improve your chances of success. No matter what your status in life or your age, you can always improve and create the life you want.
