Difference in the Functions of the Democracy of India and the Democracy of United States
If the largest Democratic country India and the oldest Democratic country the United States work in cohesion, the world may be benefited for the sake of humanity in the 21st century. Because of technological up gradation, the world has now reduced to a unit of a family. The ancient Greek philosopher thought of Democracy for the cause of the citizen of the particular country while today, it is necessary to think for a Democracy which will think for the citizen of the world.
1. What are the prime objectives of a Democratized government?
The term democracy appeared first in ancient Greek, where a political and philosophical thought had evolved a system of government at that time by dint of which political sovereignty was rested with the people. Freedom of speech, freedom of political expression and freedom of press were the backbone of democracy. Besides these, any democracy ensures equality before the law, civil liberties and human rights. India followed the Parliamentary form of democracy where parliamentary representatives had been recognized as the people’s elected legislatives members for a fixed time period and the function of the government has been executed for a specific time period through a ministry under Prime Minister. While the United States followed the Presidential form of Democracy where President is the supreme authority to form the government. However, the real test of a democracy is not in what is said in the Constitution of any country, but in how it functions on the ground. The purpose of the government is to serve the people, to look after the welfare of the people in communication, service, health, education, food, sports and culture & amusement above all security of its citizen.
2. How the two Democracy differ in specific function.
After 9/11 attack in US, the President of America designed the plan to destroy the attacker and dismantle its infrastructure and accordingly President ordered the American Army to start the operation in Afghanistan, and the fight continued since 2001 onwards for the protection of American citizens. But in India, after 26/11, the same kind of action did not follow when 185 people were massacred by the terrorists in Mumbai, because, the Indian Parliament did not approve such kind of operation, while being adversely the opinion of the majority country of the world body did not in opinion of direct action to dismantle the terrorist center at Pakistan.
3. Indian Democracy is with Tolerance while American Democracy is with tat for tie for cause of justice.
Indian Democracy was originated by the theory of Ghandian Philosophy of the virtue of Tolerance, while American Democracy is the foot print of the Late George Washington based on the virtue of tat for tie in bringing justice in the war of independence struggle. It is difficult for any Indian government to take any drastic step in any matter but it is not difficult in America because American Citizens are accustomed to face the struggle of national adventure. Americans were successful to fight against the Red Indians for unity of the United States, while the philosophy of Gandhi, the virtue of tolerance and non violence succeeded to achieve Indian Independence but failed to keep the Unity of the country while Independence being achieved at the cost of the division of the country.
4. Ancient Greek Democracy will fail to bring a better life in any Sovereign country.
‘To sustain a better life’ is the motto of every leader of every sovereign country. To-day communication has improved, distance is no longer a factor, and people can travel from country to country, continent to continent without much difficulty. The disease like Aid or any other disease affected with unknown virus might originate in a particular region but it can be spread through out the world in no time. So time has come to think for every region of the world and not to think for the country of its own.
