Digital Dating for The Cyber Shy

Digital Dating for the Cyber Shy.

It is easier to get a date now than it has ever been.  And this prospect scares some people half to death.

Let’s take care of the low hanging fruit first.  If you are a Biblical, orthodox moralist, with a list of 20 or more things you absolutely won’t do on the first date, get off the Internet.  You don’t belong there.

Rather you should return to your tabernacle and inform the clergy that you wish to become a nun.

Now as for you others who don’t have quite so many hangups, mostly what you need to do is to take it slow.

There is nothing you have to do and nothing you are supposed to do in the beginning.  By that I mean, if all you want to do is look at pictures of cute people and day dream no one can stop you and no one will even know you are doing it.

If you want the cute people to flirt with you then you should actually sign up for the dating service.  For instance, there is a service called Singlesnet wherein people can know you viewed their picture.  So if they are interested in you and your photo they will contact you.  You don’t have to do anything but gaze admiringly to get the ball rolling.

The Internet can be an excellent way to get to know people slowly and carefully before you actually meet.  It can also be a way to avoid some of the awkwardness that can be involved in dating.  For instance, if you are celibate and have no desire for intimacy put that in your profile and let your secret admirers know that is your stance in your very first missives.  After all, few things are more embarrassing than the prospect of one person taking his clothes off and the other looking horrified because it was not made clear initially what can and cannot happen when you are alone and intimate together.
