Evasion in The Cloak of Delicadeza
How Tourism Undersecretary Vicente Romano appeared honorable despite leaving his Department a bill for P5 million.
At first, the news of the resignation of Tourism Undersecretary Vicente Romano gathered positive public response appreciating his gesture of example of “delicadeza” in the administration of his boss- the honorable President Noynoy.
Looking deep however, there maybe much immediate reason why this guy immediately wants his way out following the “Pilipinas kay Ganda” debacle.
We are referring to his Department’s lavish expenditure of the whooping P5 million pesos just for the launching of his unpopular tourism slogan.
While students around the country brave the streets to demand the government to restore the slash made by Aquino to the national budget alloted to State Colleges and Universities, we have morons in the likes of top brass people in the Department of Tourism doing their own thing.
The sinister part however remains to be seen. Lavish expenditures such as this should not pass the scrutiny of the Commission on Audit. This is specially when the large amount of P5 million in public money disappear into thin air with its purpose not delivered.
Worst part is that one of the architects, if not the main plotter, of the follied “slogan launching” rushed his way out from the scene. This is probably to wash his hands before the COA could disallow their P5 million expenses against their personal account.
If that’s the case, poor Filipinos, we admire the cloak of “delicadeza” that concealed an act of evasion.
