Fire Walking

Fire walking is an asian event which is very excited.

Have you ever seen a “Fire Walking”? Though it sounds strange, it is true and do takes place. This is very common in Asian countries where a lot of Indian Hindu people live.  The “Fire Walking” ceremony is normally performed in Hindu Temples, as a vow made to God to fulfill their desire.

To perform this they have make a ‘fire bed’. This ‘fire bed’ is approximately about 12 to 16 feet in length and about 5 feet wide and about 1 foot deep. They will prepare the above base and fill it up with logs of hard fire wood and perform a “pooja” according to Hindu rites and set fire. This fire will go on for over 6 to 8 hours by which time the logs of wood would have been burnt and only the charcoal with glowing fire will be left behind. This will leveled very well and will be ready for the ‘Fire Walking”.

The devotees will attend a special ‘pooja’ at the temple and then come to the ‘fire bed’ which will be glowing with fire and will be very difficult to even get near it. But these devotees will first walk three times round the ‘fire bed’ and then walk on it and cross fire bed at least three times before they go into the temple for prayers.

It is very strange that they are not hurt at all. They never feel the heat of the fire when they perform this with all the faith in God. Both male and female devotees participate in such ceremonies. No scientific reasons have been found up to date to prove as to why these devotees are not hurt by fire.
