Gang Bang Boom

What makes a child join a gang?

False illusions in our society aid is causing many of the problems. Sports stars who earn millions of dollars annually as salaries, mis lead thousands of young people into believing that sports is a way out of poverty. One out of a million of these kids who are led to believe in this dream, will ever realize it.This false illusion is what is part of the down fall of our young generation. They see themselves as “failures” instead of realizing the reality of the odds.Once they feel they have failed, what encouragement do they have to attempt something else? The feeling of failure gives them a reason or excuse to join a gang in order to get back at society for leading them astray.

Academic education is another illusion lure. Our society puts down children who can not pass academic tests in school. Only the academically bright kids are encouraged to strive for a career in life. Kids who are slow learners or need extra help to make the grade, are considered to be dumb. That image of failure is planted in their minds at an early age. Academic achievement is pounded into our society as being the ONLY way a person can ever succeed in life.

There are many things a person can do in life that has value in contributing to a society, without having to pass a series of academic tests.Without  farming and childcare, a society would crumble. Yet, these careers are considered menial labor jobs, and are the lowest paid on the pay scale. There is something to be considered in investigating these neglected areas of life style, that affects a large portion of our society.

The lack of wisdom in seeing the value of all human beings is the downfall of an educated society, that judges everyone by a single standard, that is set up to reject those who do not fit into that standard. Shame on the  self righteous leaders who fail to see the reality of life. Gang bangers need a realistic vision to believe in.

Excellent! I must say that this is a very well written article, raising alot of thoughts. It shows the nature of what is occuring through another view point: as a young person I see the day to day goings on of gangs, to see it from the outside was very interesting. Thank you

i hear ya on this one. great piece what some people should know about a gang bangers personality is they have great traits just pointed in the wrong direction they are very loyall, they know the definition of respect. And a lot of them strive to teach younger kids whats right stay in school you will hear alot of them tell their younger brothers and sisters…And they will protect their family by any means nessicary. They can be great people and they arent so scary once you get to know them.

    Very well written.
You’re so right. I’ve always felt that every troubled child whether they’re in a gang or not need something attainable and believeable. Matter of fact we all do.
It’s sad to see these kids feel like they have no other choice but to turn to murder and drugs.
Sociey has let down these kids by judging them instead of helping them. Thank you for speacking for them.
