How to obtain photo’s for your genealogic research and what to look for once you find them.

Ask your family, usually from people that are older in age, if they have any picture’s that you can borrow to copy.Take them to an inexpensive places and make copies or if you have a printer with photo printing capabilities and make copies.Be sure to return the original photos to the owner as soon as you can.You need to keep the trust.

Look on the back of the original photo’s before returning them. You may find information on there, such as names, dates or places.

With this information you can note it,as well as your source of where you got the information.

Another great source of the information is to look at the picture and see if there is anyone else in the picture that you recognize and that you possibly know about when they were born. Therefore you can look at the pick and estimate about the age of that person in the picture and the possible year that the picture was taken.

Also, look in the background for possible signs of locations, stores, addresses, street signs and other landmarks.

Going to the library with old newspaper’s,preferably a genealogical library and look for pictures or articles on a family surname or location that you know of.

Make copies of all pictures and articles that you find.

Follow through  with this step when you can.Remember do your research at your own pace.
