Generations

What is generation, and how do we view the older and more matured adults amongst us.

People all over the world today talk about generational gap, and other issues related to generations, but know one pays attention to the different groups of the generations that we have and the people that make up this age bracket. We are going to attempt to look at the four cadre’s of generations and how they affect each other today in the world we live in.

G.I – Elders, born 1901 – 1924, these are now in the age bracket of 71 – 94, they are the great sect that overcame the Depression and won world War 11, largely due to there selfless commitment to building a viral community. They are energetic and orderly builders who pay much attention to common discipline and community spirit, something the other generations find difficult to do. Theirs is a generation of “Can do”, and they find it extremely hard to understand how the younger generations view themselves as they see thing differently.

The other group we are going to put on the podium are the Silent generation, those born between 1925 to 1942 now generally in the age bracket of 53 to 70, they are the adaptive type of personality and respond ambivalently to confrontation, they look for ways to compromise or be at a consensus in matters, to them “Due process “is the other of the day before any decision is taken or made over any matter. They are trained to be seen and  not heard, to listen while other make the noise, they prefer to walk in the other man’s shoe, they are the generation of the civil rights movement and have tried to live under the shadow of the G. G.I’s.

The boomers are the next generation under review, a generation of ‘Idealistic personalities’ who see themselves as the authentic generation, and they have no qualms in recognizing the difference between the generations, they are the chosen one’s, a generation that see themselves as the destiny of the world, unlike the Silents , they are focused on personal identity, they prefer personal upliftment to community development. They emerged out of the concept of been true to oneself, committed and creative, they find it difficult to come to a consensus agreement and are can’t mobilize as a unit, the boomers are within those born 1943 to 1960 now generally within 35 to 52.

The last set of our generation outlook are the 13Er’s, they are the emerging adults, born between 1961 and 1981, now in he age bracket of 14 to 34, they are the bad generation for they don’t seem to blend into the scheme of things with the other generations, they are like outcasts, and they will never agree to been wrong in there views and comments, they have a totally different outlook to events within and around them, they will stare you in the eyes to see if you are telling them the truth about things or just making it up, they seem to have been singled out for decline by the other generations due to there attitude of nonchalant, for they listen but will do there own will.

Well we now know the generation we belong to and the characteristics of that generation. So when next you get an attitude problem from that man that boy look at the generation he is and just nod your head or flow with the tide
