Helping The Youth in South Africa
How to help young people in South Africa mainly through the medium of education.
What many young people in this country fail to realize is the fact that without an adequate education they will be ill-equiped to handle the challenges of a modern society. With unemployment levels being what they are, many young people argue that even getting some form of qualification is no guarantee of finding decent employment. This may be true, but the fact of the matter is that you will be improving your chances in the short term and saving yourself much heartache in the long-term.
Knowledge is power and power is what is required for success. The person that has the most information will almost always make the best decisions. Many people will argue that no amount of book knowledge is a substitute for experience. This is a fact but the problem is that the degree or diploma certificate is your entry ticket. You may have all the experience in the world, but without that little piece of paper, you may never be allowed to show others what you can do.
Another important aspect of acquiring recognized qualification is the respect it affords you in many aspects of your everyday life. Banks , insurance companies, potential business partners all tend to treat a qualified person differently. This may not always be justified, but it is an undeniable fact. The person with a professional degree or diploma has easier access to finance, better insurance products etc.
When making a decision with regard to further study after school, do not take a short-term view. Look at your potential situation in 10 or 15 years from now. Speak to the guys sitting in evening classes at college after work because they have hit their ceiling. You do not wish to be there. Get qualified while you are young and free without the major responsibilities of a wife or husband and children. Believe me, it is much easier.
When you do not feel like studying for a test or exam, just picture yourself in 10 or 20 years from now. If you are totally honest with yourself, you may not like what you see. Work hard now while you are young and you will never be sorry.
