How Society Has Affected Our Children
I work in a daycare facility and I see the ways that society has changed our children. Some ways to prevent…
Things are way different from when I was a child. I grew up in the 80’s, where little boys wanted to be He-Man and not Wolverine.
I wanted to be She-ra.
I remember parading around the house with my She-ra toys, pretending that I was her and was saving the day. Things seemed to be innocent then. Lego toy commercials crowded the slots between programs, making us want the new Star Wars lego set.
There were no seductive Victoria Secret comercials
No cologne commercials parading the essance of sex right before our eyes.
From the time I entered kindergarden my mother was a homemaker. When I got home from school she always greeted me with an afternoon snack and a helping hand with homework. This also helped me and my brother stay away from trouble.
There were after school programs on the television.
I have worked in the childcare field for 4 years now. I have seen the way society has changed our children and it sickens me. The other day I caught a 4 year old giving another child the finger. I catch little boys playing villians and murders, parading the classroom with their finger extended out pretending it was a gun. I have heard a six year old say the f-word. Little girls are starting to dress like whores.
Where is all this coming from? Society and the way that parents are now raising their children.
I am not saying that all parents are bad, some are really awesome. But there are those who will give anything to thee child, whether they are bad or not, just to shut their mouth. Most parents don’t have the patience for their child, with whatever they are doing. Their tired, hungary and whatever other stresses they have and do not want to deal with any issues with their children.
A while ago, a parent came to pick up their child at my daycare facility. This child was sitting at the coloring table, putting great effort into making a picture for momma. When the mother came, the child presented it to her mother with glee. “yeah that’s great honey…” the mom said to the child . And as the child retrieved her backpack from the hook, I witnessed the mother throwing out the picture in the trash can.
