In my opinion international mindedness is the best way to acquire new skills or knowledge, and produce top-notch answers that are not only understood by you, but understood by the world as well. International mindedness values diversity, and explores ways that people around the world approach problems, and develop solutions to solve it. This is a very useful method when trying to derive an answer from questions involving a global outlook, such as “How many televisions are in an average household?” Many people would answer this question thinking about their community, and not thinking about the whole world. Internationally minded learners on the other hand think about the whole world, and that is what gives them such an in depth understanding towards a question. We can all benefit from becoming internationally minded learners; the only challenge is actually becoming one. A start to becoming an internationally minded learner is to build up your knowledge on other places in the world so it becomes easier to think with a broader perspective in mind. Another rule that will assist you in becoming an internationally minded learner is to not think about yourself, but to think about the world instead. Becoming an internationally minded learner is definitely a challenge, but it can be easily conquered with the right approach.
When trying to think internationally it would be wise to know more about the world, that’s why the first step you should take to become an internationally minded learner is to get to know the world. By doing so, you learn to understand and appreciate other cultures, perspectives, and traditions. Personally I have been doing this by going to Tamil class and learning the language Tamil. When comparing how Tamil people in Sri Lanka learn to how I learn in Canada I noticed many useful methods to help me learn.
A rule that I know will always assist you when it comes to being an internationally minded learner is to not think about yourself, but to think about the world instead. When doing this, you explore ideas and concepts that have a universal significance and help you develop a more in depth understanding of the topic.
Becoming an internationally minded learner may be tough but it can still be done. When you take the right approach to any challenge you should know that it isn’t impossible. Overall becoming an internationally minded learner may be a struggle at first but in the end it proves to be worth it.
