Goodyear was among six selected for induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, February 8, 1976.
Charles Goodyear
He was born on December 29, 1800 and was born in New Heave, Connecticut. Charles Goodyear was married to Clarissa Beecher on August 1824. Charles Goodyear was the first to vulcanize rubber and which he discovered, in 1839. After five years of searching for a more stable rubber, Goodyear discovered the vulcanization process.
He died on July 1, 1860 at the aged of fifty-nine, while he was traveling to see his dying daughter. His daughter already died after Goodyear arriving in New York. Charles Goodyear collapsed and took to the Fifth Avenue in New York City where he died. Goodyear was among six selected for induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, February 8, 1976.
