Is America Still Great?
What has happened to the principles that built this nation?
Is America great or is it not? I am no longer sure. The principles that built this nation can’t be found nowhere else. She was built with Judeo-Christian principles. People do not like it, but the history is there to support the truth that this nation was built by religious people for the purpose of offering freedom to all who desire it.
The problem is that there is no more passion for these ideals. Obama, a person who scoffed at the rewards of success as he cynically burped that there is nothing wrong with sharing the wealth got elected president. This week it appears that the president, the House of Representatives, and the Senate will have no problem approving a bill that will require the printing of 900 billion in new currency.
In addition, where is the citizen? Why isn’t there uproar over dragging America deeper in to debt? Better yet, why isn’t there outcry over violating the principles that make a free nation successful?
I want you to ponder these words “free nation”. What does it mean to you to be free? What does it mean to you to be part of a nation. People ask me why I am so opposed to immigration from Mexico, since I was born in Mexico.
My answer is two fold. One, Mexicans collectively have allowed their country to detiorate and become a lawless nation. The second reason is that most Mexicans have no interest in American ideals. Now, before you judge keep in mind I was born in Mexico, I live in a border town, and I have exposure to attitudes of Mexicans towards the US everyday. For many people who come from Mexico, America is just a country where they can use to get what they want and then go back to Mexico.
Now, I do not know what contributed to the majority of Mexicans giving up on their country. However, I would hate to see America become a nation of apathetic citizens who no longer are interested in the direction politicians take the nation.
This Obama stimulus bill is just adding to the national debt. Under no circumstance do you get out of debt by borrowing more money. Nothing is wrong with wanting to help people. However, I quote the following, “Give a man a fish you have fed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you have fed him for a lifetime”.
