Is America Still Great?

What has happened to the principles that built this nation?

Those of us who know better are obligated to fight for America.  Who gets out of debt by borrowing more debt?  How do social programs build permanent jobs?  Will we leave America better than when we found her?

I reached the US in 1970.  This was the black era of morning over Vietnam.  People were burning flags.  Defiant citizens were setting things on fire calling it protesting.  Society had come face to face with sexual liberation.

I do not think America has progressed in the last 30 years.  Girls are getting pregnant at younger ages.  Troubling events, such as school shooting and bulling students to the point of suicide cannot be signs of a progressing society.

There are even more troubling signs.  Business leaders without moral conflict rob their investors.  Politicians seduce young women and young men.  I do not even trust the police any more.

Today, I have on my mind to explain why I write against Obama’s policies.  I do not hate the man.  I do not respect him.  I see him as a phony politician with no values and/or morals.  I do not even think he is smart enough to faithfully execute the duties and responsibilities of the Office of the President of the United States.

What is important to me, is the status of America.  Again, I state a nation is only as good as her citizens.  However, to many of America’s children cannot budget their personal expenses.  They are over drawn on credit.  They are in jobs that are torturing them.  Their marriages are a greater torture.  They have no interest in loving their children and teaching them how to manage life.

How did this happen?  What was the genesis?  How can rational and reasonable people live their lives as if some else is in control?  Why do people, who are struggling, think it is the job of people like me, who pay taxes, to bail them out?  I, a person who is earning less then 20K a year, is going to pay for the tax break of some one earning 100k.  This makes no sense to me what so ever.

There has to be something perverse in a society where a person earning less than 20 k can take care of his responsibilities and a person earning 100k can claim he or she is struggling. Where did things go wrong in America?  When will things return to normal?
