Laugh a Minute!

 The couple, Greg and Aida,  had been married for 30 years without having a child whom they could call their own. But thanks to their continuous and perspiring endeavor every night because after 3 more years of trying, Aida finally got pregnant and eventually gave birth to a cute baby girl who was later nicknamed “Chu-Chu”.  “At last we have a baby!”, a happy Greg exclaimed. “We finally did it!”, so said Aida in amusement.

Chu-chu slowly grew prettier everyday until she reached the age of 9  months – where she began to utter some basic single words like “gu-gu, ah-ah, uh-uh..”  And the couple was very happy of the kid’s age development. 

As the days passed by, the couple observed that every time the baby starts pronouncing a word, there was always a corresponding effect among the people in the neighborhood. In fact, three closed friends have already died for the last 30 days apparently in consequence of this baby-babble.  The seemingly soothsaying talent of this innocent child has even caused death of two more friends after she pronounced the first two letter words  of their names. 

Last week, even her own mother was unable to get rid of this bad omen. As the baby started pronouncing the word “mo..mo..mom…”  her mother, who was at the same time washing clothes in the bathroom, suddenly collapsed and accidentally bumped her head on the floor which caused her sudden death.

Two weeks after the mother’s entombment, the father was all alone in his house mending baby Chu-chu on the cradle. Suddenly, the baby started pronouncing the most fearful word to her father’s ears. “Da-da-da-da-dad.”

Greg the father was so scared. So terrified that he weakly laid down the floor and prayed real hard. He even utterly begged to the innocent child to spare him from his imminent death. “Chu-chu, my baby, please don’t do it to Daddy. If I pass away no one will take care of you”

Several hours passed by and it seemed nothing could happen to Greg. The father’s instinct was still strong and intact. “I was alive! It did not work! Yahoo, thank you Baby!” He cried out loud with a hug. Suddenly, big screams and weeping were heard from the nearby neighbor’s house.  “Daddy, why did you leave us? Oh Daddy, you must not die!”
