Lead Us Not Into Temptation: Leadership vs. the Real World

A short piece questioning leadership in the world in which live. Opinion based paragraphs from people I’ve spoken to.

The abuse of those without power, by those who have it, is as timeless as life.  Some psychologists would say that human nature is to blame, the relentless need to be recognised and to acquire.  Others suggest a more advanced sociological point of view, that as society has progressed, the leaders of social groups have diversified and the opportunity to exploit has increased.  Out of sight, out of mind?  The faces and voices of the masses, become less coherent the further up the social & economic ladder they climb.  Tribal community suggests that some us are born to lead and the rest of us will follow, which in it’s purest essence sounds idyllic, however history proves in unfortunate quantity the sheer destructive power in all forms of the word, of leaders who do not use their position in the interests of the masses, but for self and elitist group gain.

How do the leaders remain in their positions, if they are not representing the interests of the masses?  Simple, think war tactics, then think distraction, propaganda and fear.  If something is presented to us which is plausible and we don’t know the actual answer, as human beings in our search for answers, we accept what we are told without question or proof, the latest of course being fear!  We do what we are told because we live in fear, like lambs awaiting slaughter.  What is it we fear?  Fear of economic meltdown, the problem created by the leaders allowing it’s tribe to consume more than it can afford in a bottomless market economy?  Or perhaps should we fear the world of terror?  Terrorists, who are usually people who have been persecuted for generations by the western world and now the world is somehow surprised that the masses in certain parts of the globe have chosen to fight back in the only real forum which gets peoples attention.  In no way shape or form should the acts of terrorism be condoned, as the loss of innocent life is simply nothing less than a tragedy, however why is it that we allow our leaders to stand on such high podiums, when few of us rarely feel they actually represent us?

It’s been thought by some, that we are the way we are today, simply because of numbers, we are too many people standing on a sphere which was never meant to be raped, as it has been.  We apparently live in a Free world, though everywhere is owned and everything costs money, even the very air we breathe.  Is revolution the answer? Or would that create disorder, more aggression and destruction?  People with a more moralistic perception, would suggest the delicate balance of the world has been altered so much, that our judgement is coming, a culling on a global scale by the planet itself, with the aim setting the balance back to zero.

Two questions lay before you. Does being led suit your life? Do you want to have a say in which direction you are being led?
